Clinical description
- The target populations are current miners, ex-miners, mining communities and
cement porters.
- Screening criteria / algorithms: Every miner, ex-miner or mining community member
presenting to the health facility should be screened for TB.
- Both symptomatic and X-ray screening methods will be used.
- Xpert should be used for testing presumptive TB cases wherever possible. Microscopy
can be used where Xpert is not available.
- Where necessary, lung function tests will be done at district hospital and health centre
level.
