Overall organization of the case finding strategy

Clinical description
The case finding strategy is organized by institutional arrangement. In health care settings, a systematic approach to screening for TB should be applied in all primary health care settings such as outpatient departments (OPD), HIV clinics and other service outlets. Strengthening the laboratory service is also a part of the case detection effort in health care settings.
At community level, as shown in Figure 3.22, active case finding through house to house TB screening and mobile units will be the main mechanism of case detection among high risk groups. In rural areas, sputum sample collection points will be established and maintained.
