Cervical Adenitis

Clinical Description
Adenitis may be due to bacterial infection, TB, KS and/or HIV infection among other causes.
Treatment
- Give Amoxycillin 500mg 8 hourly for 10 days
Alternatively, if penicillin hypersensitivity:
- Give Erythromycin 500mg 6 hourly or
- Give Doxycycline 200mg on first day
- followed by 100 mg every day for a further 9 days
- For pain or fever give analgesic
Note: If no improvement, do a fine needle aspiration for AFBs 16.2. LOWER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTIONS
