HIV infection

Clinical description
Infection with HIV leads to destruction of the body’s immune system. Persons who are infected with HIV are therefore more prone to TB disease than those without HIV infection. When recognized opportunistic diseases accompany HIV infection, the affected person is said to have acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
